The Wood Badge training program is the premier advanced leader training, open to ALL registered Scouters in the Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Varsity, and Venturing programs. It highlights personal and unit level leadership development with team building and other useful skills. The course is held in attractive outdoor settings and some outdoor skills will be taught and utilized. Wood Badge is fun, challenging, and inspirational Scouting experience.
Lord Baden-Powell, the founder of Scouting, directed the first course in 1919 and gave each of the participants one of the beads which he had captured from the African chieftain Dinizulu. Thus did the course name develop, for its symbol was literally a badge of wood. At the completion of your Wood Badge course you will receive a certificate. Once you complete your ticket you will receive a neckerchief, a leather slide, and two small wooden beads on a leather thong.
