Council Properties and Facility Reservations

The Miami Valley Council owns and operates two properties in the Miami Valley: Cricket Holler Scout Camp, and Woodland Trails Scout Reservation.

Both Cricket Holler Scout Camp and Woodland Trails Scout Reservation make ideal camping destinations for Packs, Troops, Crews and outside organizations. Each camp has specific features that help provide a unique experience for your group.

Cricket Holler Scout Camp

The campgrounds feature rustic campsites for tent camping, adirondack shelters, the Kiwanis Lodge (K-Lodge) and several small fields for group activities. Want to rough it for a weekend? Try one of our wilderness campsites deep in the woods of Cricket Holler.

The Schiewetz Leadership Training Center is a cutting edge outdoor education facility located just minutes from downtown Dayton. The campus features a large training center with ample room for small group breakout sessions and four luxurious cabins featuring a kitchen, two showers and commons room, for overnight accommodations. This facility makes a great location for corporate retreats, annual meetings, receptions, birthday parties, wedding receptions and training events. download a map of cricket holler

Woodland Trails Scout Reservation

During the summer Woodland Trails is transformed into one of the premier camping facilities in the midwest. During the fall, winter and spring the camp becomes a top weekend camping destination. The property features a large Dining Hall and commercial kitchen, archery, rifle and shotgun ranges, lakefront, pool, and miles of trails throughout the property. Campsites are available in the off season, just bring your tents and pitch them on wooden platforms located in each campsite.

We also have a short video on how to make facility reservations which can be viewed below.

Camp Use Guidelines:

Camp use guidelines were developed to ensure the health and safety of all of our campers and to ensure the facilities at our camps will be around for future generations of campers.

Timely Reservations:

To better manage our camps, we request that units make facility reservations at least one week in advance. That way we can assure that the camp is properly staffed for your arrival. You may book reservations up to one year in advance.

The online reservation system blocks all attempts to make a reservation less than one week prior to a desired date.  Units requesting a short term camp reservation less than a week before a desired camping trip must contact Customer Service Representative at 937-278-4825.

Reservation Payment Methods:

Credit cards, e-checks, and mail in payments are accepted.  All payments are made and paid in full prior to your reservation start date.

Facility Reservation cancellations received 60 days before the use date will be refunded 100%. Cancellations received between 59 and 30 days before the use date will be refunded 50%. No refunds for cancellations within 29 days of the use date.

At the time of reservation an estimated attendance will be used for number of campers. This estimate will be locked in on day 29 and no refunds issued for over estimates. Payment is made to the caretaker, camp master or ranger at time of check in for any additional attendees.

Reservations for extended stays may have terms defined in a separate agreement that may be more stringent then the policy described above.

Requests for refunds must be e-mailed to or mailed to the Council Service Center.
